Overview

  • Funding is available for organisations that have been operating for a minimum of 12 months and have signed accounts at the time of application.
  • The funding offered is unrestricted and, therefore, flexible. It can be used as needed to support your organisation's objectives. Please refer to the We Do Not Fund section for details of exclusions.
  • This Trust awards funds to organisations in the South of England that meet one of our funding themes. Please enter your organisation's postcode into our Trust Finder to ensure this is the correct Trust for your location.
  • A copy of the application form questions can be downloaded from the Apply for a Grant page. Please note that all character counts include spaces and punctuation (not word count). You are not able to save the live application form. We therefore recommend downloading and saving the Word document with the questions and preparing your answers beforehand.
  • Organisations may only make one application per funding round and are not eligible to apply to other Trusts supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. If you are unsuccessful, we will welcome one further application in 2025.
  • As part of our assessment process we carry out several due diligence checks on each applicant organisation. Please check our FAQs for further details, and if you have any questions, please email the Trust Team.
  • We are currently reviewing our criteria and funding programmes. An update is expected in the second half of the year, which may include an increase in the amount of multi-year funding offered.

Criteria Checklist

  • The amount requested should not exceed 1/3 (one-third) of your total income on the annual accounts submitted with your application.
  • Your organisation's income should be £1m or less in the most recent financial year (organisations with an income of less than £250k are prioritised). In 2024, 99% of organisations awarded funding had an income of less than £250k.
  • Your governing document must be the most recent version, in your organisation's name, and clearly state your charitable objectives. If you are a CIC and these objectives do not appear on your governing document, you must attach a copy of your CIC36 form to your governing document before submitting.
  • No more than 50% of the members serving as Trustees, Directors, or Committee members can be related.
  • A  UK bank account in your organisation's name, with two unrelated signatories. Your organisation's name must be identical on the regulator website, the bank account, your governing document, annual accounts, and the application under which you are submitting. Any changes to the name must be officially documented and provided to the Trust when you apply.
  • Signed accounts no older than the year ending May 2023, detailing income and expenditure for the most recent financial year. If required by your regulator, these should also include a report from an Independent Examiner or Auditor.
  • Postcode Society Trust is committed to being a real Living Wage funder, as fair pay is a crucial part of our Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) commitments. We encourage all organisations to pay at least the real Living Wage or above.
  • The organisation's aims and objectives must align with at least one of the funding themes listed on the Themes & Priorities page. Applications without clear alignment will be considered ineligible.
  • Successful organisations should aim to spend all funds within 18 months of receiving them.
